FAQ - Answers to Those Frequently Asked Questions

What is the ordering process?

We periodically have select frames in stock.  Unless otherwise noted, these frames will be built with the standard frame features and geometry specified on each respective frame model’s page.

There is no opportunity to add or customize features to these frames.

Simply choose your frame size from the dropdown clearly shown as in-stock and proceed with your order.  We’ll get your frame shipped to you generally within 2 business days.

Most of our frames are built-to-order, allowing you to choose certain features and upgrades for a nominal fee.  The base price includes all the standard frame features specified on each respective frame model’s page.

The optional common upgrades are listed on each page.  Choose the ones you want and the pricing will update accordingly.  Leave the options blank and your frame will be built with the standard features.

If you don’t see the frame features or upgrades you’re looking for, they’re likely included as part of our Custom Frame Sizing and Options for an additional fee.

Purchasing the Custom Frame Sizing and Options package provides the valuable option of working closely with us to fit your frame size just for you.  You also gain several more frame features to choose from.

Please note that the custom frame sizing and options package is for our existing proven designs.  It does not provide the option for greatly deviating from our designs and generating a custom design.

What is the production lead time?

Standard frame orders are currently taking an average of 10-12 weeks to fulfill.  Circumstances related to Covid, increased volume demands on shipping couriers, and national and international holidays contribute to the processing time.  Please remain flexible with the timeline.

It is imperative for us to get everything correct with your custom frame. Therefore, significant time is spent on your frame drawing before giving final approval for metal to be cut. Production time for your custom frame may take up to 12-16 weeks, or more, depending on the complexity of the design and features.

What is the shipping fee?

We ship our frames within the continental United States for a flat fee of $60.  This price automatically includes insurance on your frame in case it is lost or damaged during the shipping process.  An adult signature will be required at the time of delivery.

Parts, apparel, and other non-frame items will ship for a nominal fee which will be specified during the checkout process or on your separate invoice.

It is our pleasure to work with international customers!  Please contact us with your shipping address and we will provide you with a detailed quote that includes the shipping, insurance, and international duties/taxes fees.

Where are your frames made?

Our titanium frames are manufactured in China. Our frame designs feature unique combinations of curves and bends, and we work with one of three manufacturers depending on the design. Each manufacturer maintains high quality standards and takes pride in its craftsmanship. Each frame is individually handcrafted using seamless 3Al-2.5V (ASTM Grade 9) titanium alloy tubing with bosses and other fittings of 6Al-4V (ASTM Grade 5) titanium alloy.

We are in the early prototype stages of developing steel frames handcrafted in Arizona.  We’re also exploring options with steel frame manufacturers located elsewhere within the United States and North America.

Frame Care

We recommend using a light grease or titanium anti-seize between metal to metal contact to avoid galling and cold welding of the components.  This will also help eliminate the infamous creaking that can occur with Ti frames.

Using an anti-slip grease on the seat post will help prevent slippage and the need to over-tighten seat clamps.

Although your titanium frame is noncorrosive, your other components are susceptible to corrosion.  We recommend using just a spray bottle with isopropyl alcohol or a light degreaser, such as Windex, Simple Green, etc. and a soft cloth.  Many times, plain water works just fine!  Of course, muddy situations may call for a more robust cleaning.  In that case, we recommend spraying the components with a water-displacer, such as WD-40, once you’re finished washing your bike.

If your frame gets a few scratches or blemishes, and if you have a hand-brushed (polished) finish, you can simply use a scotch-brite pad and some elbow grease to polish those right out.  It doesn’t take a lot of effort, so use caution with the courser pads.

Titanium is very tough, but we recommend using frame protector material on the driveside chainstay to prevent chain contact, and on the lower downtube for rock protection.

Componentry

Your frame will be provided with a dropout insert designed for a 160mm rotor. You can run up to a 203mm rotor with a post adaptor.

Any headset with a zero stack 44mm internal upper cup and a 44mm external lower cup should work just fine.  Popular choices are the Chris King InSet i7 and the Cane Creek Zero Stack headsets. (We can currently source the Cane Creek 40 and Hellbender 70 series headsets for you.)

  • Lower: EC44
  • Upper: ZS44
  • Stem Clamp Diameter: 28.6 Threadless
  • Crown Race: 40

We design all of our frames to use a threaded 73mm BSA bottom bracket.

We are dealers for the following highly reputable companies:

  • 5DEV
  • Endless Bikes (Kick-Ass-Cogs and Chainrings)
  • NOBL Wheels (stellar carbon wheels)
  • Spinergy Wheels (excellent carbon and alloy wheels)

We can also source some forks, headsets, bottom brackets, and other miscellaneous items depending on your desired brand and spec requirements.

Note: We are not permitted to advertise our sales price on components.  Please contact us for a quote if you are interested in any of the above-listed items.
