OVERVIEW AND REVIEWS

The Maniak titanium MTB frame accumulates Steve’s preferences for riding the latest hardtails on the market and Binary’s flair for design. Together, we designed the Maniak with the sincere belief that an aggressive hardtail geared for modern trail riding was missing from the market. This frameset is our thoughtful attempt to push boundaries. We’ve built a progressive hardtail platform that conquers technical terrain as aggressively as the riders who live for those challenges.

We optimized the Maniak for 120mm forks and 29×3.0 tires. It stands apart with a slack, low, stretched geometry that promises to come alive on steep, technical terrain. The long reach centers your position for tackling steeps while the short chainstays make popping playful. What does all this mean? You’ll get that wicked grin when you push this responsive bike to the limits. You know the one we’re talking about!

The Maniak titanium MTB frame boasts extra short seat tubes for running the longest droppers on the market. And, we’ve kept the relationship between the front and rear center consistent across the frame sizes. By doing this, we’ve fine-tuned the bike’s performance attributes such as agility, stability, and efficiency. This means that regardless of the size of the frame, you can expect optimal handling and control, especially during cornering and technical maneuvers. The big guys are thanking us for this!

This bike is just asking to be taken out for an active, aggressive ride – no doubt about it. The Maniak seeks out riders who like to get rowdy and push their limits on the tough stuff.

“I’ve always wanted a modern hardtail that I could take on any trail and have fun. So, that’s what Binary Bicycles has built for me. But, this bike isn’t for everyone. The Maniak is designed around my belief that aggressive hardtails perform best with a 120mm fork.

It’s meant to be a fast trail bike that maximizes modern geometry and modern riding technique for all-day epic rides, flow trails, or picking your way through the most technical trails on the planet. You can set it up as a super slack lightweight xc racer or an aggressive short-travel enduro race bike. The Maniak is the bike I’ve always wanted if I could only have one bike, whether it’s a multi-day bikepacking ride on the Colorado Trail or a day on the steepest, most technical double black diamond trails in Squamish.” – Steve at Hardtail Party

6 reviews for Maniak Titanium MTB Frame

  1. Jeff Flanders

I am just over 1 year into riding the Maniak HP. I love the ride, feel and look of the frame. It’s definitely an aggressive hardtail and even at 120mm of travel it can handle whatever the rider is capable of. I do not recommend over forking this bike. Stick to the recommended 120-130 travel! Great Job Binary and Steve at Hardtail Party , you should be proud!

  2. Matt Ford

I’ve had a riot of a time on this bike. Local trails are flat and flowy – very XC – and this rips around them and makes them fun. I’ve taken it to bike parks for the down hill runs, and it handles them like a champ. I took it to Mexico to ride the ‘natural’ mountain climbs and descents, and again, came shining through. So much fun, I feel like I truly have a one arrow quiver that never feels like a compromise. Nice job Binary!

  3. Kirk Reisinger

I absolutely love my Maniak and here are some of the reasons why:

It’s a hardtail and although I love all full FS bikes – there is something special about how a hardtail handles. It’s a shoot by the hip, pick a line and rail the corners kinda steed. The build quality is excellent and I just love all the lines on this frame, sliding dropout versatility and mounts galore. 200mm dropper on the M/L frame and clearance for HUGE tires! I can get so low for the numerous log overs we have here on the East coast.

Kudos to everyone involved in the creation of this frame! Steve, Jalene and George – thanks so much!

  4. Jeff Jaren

Awesome customer service, very easy process. This was my first titanium frame. I would definitely buy one again.

  5. Ed B

Fantastic company to work with, very fast response time, extremely pleasant, and great product. Couldn’t be happier with my Maniak.

  6. JR

It was a great experience dealing with the folks at Binary Bicycles. They were very forthcoming in keeping me informed of delivery and shipping dates. The Binary Maniak purchase exceeded my expectations. I received a very well-made bike that performs great on the trail.

DEBUGGING the FAQs

  • conventional sliding dropout inserts and titanium insert hardware
  • 35mm seat post clamp

Yes! While conventional sliding dropout inserts are traditionally provided with your frame, you can easily upgrade to Paragon SRAM UDH compatible inserts and axle.

The Maniak is designed to use a threaded 73mm BSA bottom bracket.

Any headset with a zero stack 44mm internal upper cup and a 44mm external lower cup should work just fine.

Lower: EC44
Upper: ZS44
Stem Clamp Diameter: 28.6 Threadless
Crown Race: 40

We recommend running a 120mm or 130mm fork with the axle-to-crown length as close to 531mm as possible.

Tailored for optimal compatibility with SRAM Transmission Drivetrains, the Maniak v1.5 features a 55mm chainline design.

Assembling a Titanium MTB Dream Machine: Binary Bicycles Maniak HP

So far, my favorite rides on it have been smooth, mostly hardback trails that I know well, with short punchy climbs, and quick, twisty descents. The quickness and responsiveness of the rigid rear end pair well with out-of-the-saddle climbing. It’s even more fun when other riders are on heavier dual-suspension trail bikes, as it sprints right past them.
